چکیده
We report on a near-infrared, long-baseline interferometric search for luminous companions to the star 51 Pegasi conducted with the Palomar Testbed Interferometer. Our data is completely consistent with a single-star hypothesis. We find no evidence to suggest a luminous companion to 51 Pegasi, and can exclude a companion brighter than a ∆K of 4.27 at the 99% confidence level for the 4.2-day orbital period indicated by spectroscopic measurements. This ∆K corresponds to an upper limit in the companion M K of 7.30, in turn implying a main-sequence companion mass less than 0.22 M ⊙ .

We compute the accuracy with which Ωm and ΩΛ can be measured by combining future SN Ia and CMB experiments, deriving a handy expression for the SN Ia Fisher information matrix. The two data sets are found to be highly complementary: a joint analysis reduces the error bars by more than an order of magnitude compared to a separate analysis of either data set.

We present an overview of our ongoing systematic search for wide (sub)stellar companions around the stars known to host rad-vel planets. By using a relatively large field of view and going very deep, our survey can find all directly detectable stellar and massive brown dwarf companions (m>40 MJup) within a 1000 AU orbit.
